About The Event
"A collection of collage work that addresses advertising, consumption, and the means of manufacturing desire. Using hundreds of food cut-outs from junk mail circulars, the artist’s collages conjure allusions to our carnal appetites – particularly those that lurk in the margins of our consciousness. The work is part of a larger, developing body of work that also includes large-scale paintings and installations of found junk mail circulars precisely excised of all imagery of the advertised products. The work seeks to investigate how our desires are often not shaped by our corporeal needs, but rather by our incorporeal appetites. The works ponders how the way we desire, acquire, prepare, and consume food can be so profoundly disassociated from the physical body it is meant to nourish and sustain." - Heather Link-Bergman
